Danny's action research

In reading about action research, it appears to be a really great tool to get your whole staff on the same page. Since action research requires for the administrators to get more involved in the day to day activities, and to also partake in all research assessments, all members of the staff will be able to benefit and improve the product in the classroom. We are living in a time when things are quickly changing because of the technology and the pressures that students have not only at home, but peer pressures of friends and the neighborhoods they come from.  Action research would be of great assistance to get a better understanding of what is working in our backyard as to reading what we should do from a book. I am looking forward to learning the different ways we can use this technique to make our campus one of the most recognized if not in the district, but also the state.
What's great about blogging is that it allows for other administrators to comment on each others blogs and they can even post pictures and images. Principals can also use this as an online diary to keep track of what events have transpired.

  1. I really enjoyed this week because I got a chance to sit with my site supervisor and go over my internship and get her feedback. I learned a few good views from some educators that are responsible on making big decisions in their fields. Teacher should never be happy with just reaching that one student because we will be held accountable for all of them. The teaching profession is a constantly growing field and we as teachers must be willing to always keep learning. I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks.

  2. 1. Examining the work: Setting the Foundation - Students have ideas and suggestions that can possibly improve academic scores and student performance. Is it possible that opening the floor to the students to input their ideas and suggestions to the staff could improve not only the morale but the performance of not only the students but the teachers as well.
    2. Analyzing data - Seeing results will take time to gather data involving students brought in to input their suggestions, students and teachers would require ample amount of time to conclude any changes or progress from implementing the new approach. Aside from doing observations, keeping track of student assessments is another way of analyzing data.
    3. Developing deeper understanding - Students and teachers could e brought in to see if the changes have been beneficial to all. The principal and myself could monitor a classroom attempting new ideas.
    4. Engaging in Self-Reflection - As a self reflection, it would be good if I too can look at what changes I would like to make myself and not only to me, but to my campus or staff. It's important that I see changes I need to make, to be a better educator.
    5. Exploring Programmatic Patterns - Students being surveyed must understand that all ideas and suggestions must be suited for all courses and that there shouldn't be any students left out. This includes special ed, ELL (English, Language Learners and any 504 students.
    6. Determining direction - Upon introducing this action research to the teachers, it is important for all of us to brainstorm and write down what questions are going to be asked to the students. These questions that are going to be surveyed must be precise and clear in that the students cant interpret them in no other way.
    7. Taking action for school improvement - In order to gather the best possible students to survey, we have to ensure that the students are of all ranges from special ed to the students that are present every day. In the end, the teachers will chose which questions will be asked. The gathering of the teachers is of most importance. This group must contain the section heads as well as the principal.
    8. Sustaining improvement - This survey is important because this will not only give the students a voice but it will allow for teachers to implement new ideas and grow as educator from here on out.
